Kuala Lumpur, 16 September 2008 - Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Berhad (KFHMB) has hosted inhouse briefings for several university students recently. A total of 75 students majoring in Islamic banking from Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) as well as Shariah and Law from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) filled up the training room at KFHMB Head Office in Kuala Lumpur for a practical insight into Islamic banking and finance.
The students began their visit with a tour of the KL Main Branch and headed to the trading room of the Treasury Division. Since this was their first time witnessing the activities in a trading room, the students were clearly excited with the experience. In addition to the tour, key officers conducted presentations on the Bank's operations.
KFHMB played host to another group of 25 university students from the State of Kuwait who are part of a leadership programme, which includes study visits to various countries during their current summer break. Welcome remarks and a presentation in Arabic was conducted by Mr Nawaf AlMenayekh, one of KFHMB's senior managers. The students' enthusiasm was clearly evident when they posed several in depth questions on topics in Islamic banking and the Bank's operations.
The educational visits are in line with the aspirations of KFHMB being a thought leader in Islamic banking in which KFHMB has initiated programmes to create awareness, stimulate interest and educate the public on topics in Islamic banking and finance. Last May, KFHMB held its first inhouse university students' briefing for participants of The Financial Sector Talent and Enrichment Programme (FSTEP), an initiative of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM).
