Kuwait, 24 November 2009 - Kuwait Finance House K. S. C. (KFH) financed the Haj pilgrimage of 10 underprivileged Muslims through its Al-Khair prepaid card initiative where 0.5 percent of the card’s returns were donated to people who do not have the means to perform Haj. Pilgrims selection was done in consultation with the Ministry of Awqaf.
KFH Assistant General Manager for Banking Sector Mohammed Al-Fozan highlighted that KFH has presented the card this year, and that this was the first time KFH is financing 10 pilgrims for Haj. He added that KFH will repeat the same initiative next year, in addition to allowing its clients to go for Umrah at throughout the year. He noted that KFH takes pride in the trust that the clients have for KFH and its products and services. He added that KFH grants the opportunity for the card holders to work together with the bank to help the poor as every time the card is used for payment, a percentage will be donated.
The Commitment and Coordination Manager at the Banking Cards Department, Zaid Al-Khateeb, presented the donation cheque to the Ministry officials, Bader Al-Mayouf and Ahmed Al-Kandari. He said that the prepaid card has all the advantages of a credit card, where it is accepted in Kuwait and overseas at all points of sale and at KFH ATM machines in Kuwait. He added that issuing the card does not require checking the client’s credit history, salary or bank account. As long as the card has a cash value in it, it can be used. The card is available to customers aged 21 and above. He noted that the chip technology provides the ultimate security. It also allows the card holder to control his expenses since the maximum amount is the balance available in the card that he has earlier deposited. Clients can use the card to pay their bills and enjoy discounts up to 50 percent at several stores, in addition to making online reservations worldwide.
