Kuwait, 19 August 2010 – Kuwait Finance House K. S. C. (KFH) has pledged a donation of RM6.26 million (USD2.0 million) to aid victims of the flood in Pakistan. The donation will be channelled through the Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS). KFH Chairman and Managing Director, Bader Abdul Muhsen Al-Mukhaizeem, said that the effort represents part of the KFH corporate social responsibility programme. Assisting Muslims affected by disasters deepens the spirit of benevolence that the Group is well-known for. The gesture was also an immediate response to the Government's call to donate to the relief efforts.
Al-Mukhaizeem said that KFH will hand over the cheque to the KRCS within the next two days. He expressed the hope that it will alleviate the suffering of the victims affected by the major flood which has caused devastation and destruction of many buildings and facilities. The flood has left thousands of people displaced or missing. KFH is keen to participate in official efforts geared towards the relief of neighbouring countries, which reinforces the caring image of the Group and its generosity. This fosters closer relationships between countries, besides enhancing bilateral trade and investment.
Recently, KFH also donated RM36.67 million (KD 3.372 million) to the Kuwait Zakat House during the month of Ramadan. KFH has provided and will continue to extend assistance in various fields within Kuwait through the authorities and official bodies, as an ongoing effort by KFH to help charitable committees and societies.
