Kuala Lumpur, 1 June 2010 - Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Berhad (KFHMB) today entered into an agreement with Malaysian Electronic Payment System Sdn Bhd (MEPS), for the MEPS Interbank Giro Payment System (MEPS IBG) and Shared ATM Network services, being the first foreign Islamic bank in Malaysia to offer both services simultaneously. Present at the signing ceremony were KFHMB’s Chief Executive Officer, Puan Jamelah Jamaluddin and MEPS Group Managing Director, Encik Mohd Suhail Amar Suresh. Also present to witness the significant event were KFHMB’s Board member, Encik Mohamed Ismail Mohamed Shariff and MEPS Chairman, Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Sri Abdul Wahid Omar.
Puan Jamelah Jamaluddin highlighted in her opening speech, “KFHMB’s participation in both MEPS IBG and the Shared ATM Network services, marks another significant milestone for the Bank. Our corporate and retail customers will be the direct beneficiaries of these two services as they would enjoy greater accessibility, wider range of online transactions, convenient nationwide access to funds and multiple channel options. All transactions can be efficiently performed through our internet banking facility, KFH Online, and soon through over-the-counter. MEPS IBG service has already been made available since April 26 and the MEPS Shared ATM network will be launched in July 2010.”
“Our strategic partnership with MEPS will without a doubt, allow us to reach a wider and more diverse market segment, as we deliver our mandate to provide Shariah-based products and services. It will also expedite our initiatives to grow the Retail and Consumer banking business,” added Puan Jamelah.
In his speech, MEPS Chairman Dato’ Sri Abdul Wahid Omar said, “As a participating member of the MEPS Shared ATM Network and Interbank GIRO, KFHMB is now able to offer its customers a more extensive base of transaction touch points, providing near anytime, anywhere cash withdrawals and funds transfers facilities. We believe KFHMB will reap further benefits through participating in other MEPS interbank services such as e-Debit, MEPS FPX and MEPS Direct Debit, as well as our Cross-border Shared ATM Network.”.
The launch of IBG and Shared ATM Network services will further contribute towards executing KFHMB’s business plans and achieving sustainable growth.
