Kuala Lumpur, 5 October 2011 – Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Berhad (KFH Malaysia), the first foreign Islamic bank in Malaysia, bagged the ‘Most Outstanding Islamic Consumer Product’ award for its KFH Gold-Account-i at the Kuala Lumpur Islamic Finance Forum (KLIFF) Awards 2011.
Puan Jamelah Jamaluddin, CEO, KFH Malaysia, received the award from Y.B. Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Bin Yakcop, Minister In the Prime Minister's Department at a ceremony held in conjunction with the recent 8th KLIFF. The KLIFF awards honour and recognise significant efforts by individuals and institutions in the Islamic finance industry.
Commenting on the award, Puan Jamelah said, “We are delighted to be acknowledged for our contribution towards the development of Islamic finance in the country. Our innovative product, KFH Gold Account-i, allows customers to invest in gold in a convenient and secure way without having to keep the gold physically.”
Representing the first Shariah-compliant gold account in Malaysia, the product has been well-received by Muslim and non-Muslim customers alike. To date, more than 3000 account holders have been recorded, which contributed to well over 700 kg of gold sold.
KFH Malaysia has recently concluded its Gold Discovery II campaign and Encik Saiful Azam Haji Shaffi has become the grand prize winner. The campaign ran from 26 May to 31 August 2011, offering a total of ten monthly prizes and a grand prize of a KFH-Gold Account-i with a deposit value of one kilogram of gold.
Commenting on the campaign, Encik Saiful said, “I am delighted to win the grand prize.
