Kuwait City, Kuwait – 17 February 2013: Kuwait Finance House (KFH) posted Net Revenues of 932.8 million KWD for 2012, an increase of 60.7 million KWD, 7% from 2011, resulting in Gross Profit of 262 million KWD, of which 171 million KWD will be distributed as profits for investment depositors as follows:
• 2.147% for Al-Khumasiya Investment Deposit
• 1.932% for Continuous Investment Deposit
• 1.503% for Al-Sedra Investment Deposit
• 1.288% for Saving Investment Deposits
Net shareholders’ profits reached 87.7 million KWD, an increase of 7.4 million KWD and 9% compared to 2011. Earnings per Share is 30.80 Fils, an increase of 2.78 Fils from last year. The Board of Directors recommended granting shareholders 10% Cash Dividends and 10% Bonus Shares subject to approval of general assembly and regulatory authorities.
As a result of implementing initiatives from its recent Capital Improvement Plan, the bank’s Capital Adequacy Ratio increased to approximately 14%.
Total Assets reached to 14.7 billion KWD, an increase of 1.2 billion KWD and 9% from 2011. Deposits also reached to 9.4 billion KWD, an increase of 511 million KWD and 6% from last year. Shareholders' equity increased to 1.3 billion KWD, an increase of 35.7 million KWD compared to 2011.

Al-Khudairi highlighted the positive results achieved by KFH in 2012, which resulted in a high level of asset quality and improved financing portfolio, after allocating 255.3 million KWD as provisions, also resulting in decrease of NPL ratio from 9.3% to 5.7%. Moreover, there has been a noticeable improvement in risk indicators according to the internal model for risk rating.
Al-Khudairi affirmed that, despite the challenging local and global economic environment, 2012 marked continuous outstanding, safe and strong, operational performance across all KFH businesses. As a result, the balance sheet showed an increase of 8% in Return on Equity and an increase of Net Profits in 9% confirms the success of the development plans implemented by KFH. It also confirms that the implementation of the Transformation Program has come at the right time, and has been implemented professionally at all operating levels. The increase in shareholders’ profits by 9%, and Earnings per Share by 10% reflects KFH’s strong and balanced performance. In addition, the increase in total Revenues of 7% is another indicator that growth is on track and sustainable in-light of expenditure rationalization and maximizing returns based on asset quality, risk diversification and expansion plans.
He stressed that the growth achieved after the first year of the bank’s Transformation Program, undertaken in collaboration with Booz & Co. and other international consultancies, has insured customers are the focal point of all activities and that services are being now implemented according to their requirements. In-line with this Transformation Program, KFH has also consolidated the Retail and Wholesale operations which have contributed to growth in revenues from the retail business and local real estate. Al-Khudairi also stressed that KFH had maintained its credit ratings from major international credit rating agencies. The bank also continued to maintain its capital standards in accordance to regulatory requirements, with the Capital Adequacy Ratio currently at approximately 14%.
The Board of Director’s decision to increase the bank’s capital by 20% is in line with the bank’s confidence in its local and global expansion plans. The Capital raising is also a result of the current transformation program which is restructuring the bank’s operations for sustainable growth.
