Kuala Lumpur, 5 October, 2007- Ustaz Mohamed Khairul Anuar Al-Hafiz from the Shariah Department of Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Berhad (KFHMB) has done the bank proud again. He has retained the Championship title in the male (Qari) category representing Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Berhad in the Al-Quran Recitation Competition for Islamic banks and Takaful companies. The event was organised by Takaful Nasional and the second consecutive year that Ustaz Khairul won the title.
Ustaz Khairul beat nine other male contestants and took home the Grand Prize of RM1, 000 cash, a laptop and a certificate of appreciation. An avid reciter of the Holy Al-Quran, Ustaz Khairul had previously represented Malaysia in the 1999 International Holy Quran Award held in Dubai and in the 1997 International Holy Quran Competition held in Mecca.
His achievement has added another feather in the cap of Kuwait Finance House ¿ Malaysia and just days after announcing that its Global Research Economics & Research Team has won the Best Research in Islamic Finance organised by international event organizer, Terrapin.
The judges for the Quran Recitation competition were: YB Ustaz Mohd Afandi Bin Hussian (Chief Judge) from the Shariah Division of Takaful Nasional; YB Ustaz Mazlan Bin Abdul Hamid who is a Religious Officer at Balai Islam TNB; YB Ustaz Mohamed Bin Abdullah Sani from the Finance Department in MNI Berhad and YB Ustaz Haji Yahya Bin Ahmad from the ReTakaful Department in Takaful Nasional.
Hazlin Ismail and Norshida Ahmad Raffie were KFHMB's representatives in the female (Qariah) category of the Tilawah competition, which was held at Dataran Maybank in Bangsar last week.
Staff participation in such events is encouraged by the management and harmonises with the Bank's vision to be the leading Islamic bank in the region; it also complements KFHMB's standing as the most outstanding Islamic bank in terms of financial achievements as well as upholding the practice of Islam by its staff.
