Putrajaya, 25th August 2007. Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Berhad (KFHMB) has broken new ground with the planting of 50 "Golden Chain Trees" or "Lophanthera Lactescens Trees" in Putrajaya. The 50 trees were a gift from KFHMB in conjunction with the 50th National Day Celebrations. The remaining 49 Golden Chain Trees have been planted at Taman Wetlands in Putrajaya.
The 50th tree was planted today at Putrajaya Garden, by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, The Honourable Dato' Seri Abdullah Bin Haji Ahmad Badawi. Earlier, the Prime Minister officiated Floria Putrajaya 2007, the Putrajaya Flora & Garden Festival. He was accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Jeanne Abdullah.
In a small ceremony held on 20th August 2007, Mr. K. Salman Younis, Managing Director, KFHMB and Yang Berbahagia Tan Sri Samsudin Osman, President of Putrajaya Corporation had each planted the 48th and 49th "Golden Chain Tree" respectively, signifying the 49 years that had past.
"Kuwait Finance House views Corporate Social Responsibility very seriously and it is our goal to ensure we play our part in this aspect," stated Mr. K Salman Younis. "Although Kuwait Finance House is very active in Islamic banking & finance, as an Islamic financial institution, we never forget our role as a responsible corporate body, in whichever country we have a presence in."
Mr. Younis added, "The gift of giving 50 trees is a small gesture of Kuwait Finance House in giving back to society. At the same time, we hope we have played a role in helping to develop Taman Wetlands Putrajaya."
The 9-day international fiesta, which kicked off today and closes on 2nd September, showcases a spectacular display of flora creativity as well as local and international garden designs. This event is alongside the 44th International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) World Congress.
