Kuala Lumpur, 28 September 2012 – Kuwait Finance House (Malaysia) Berhad (KFH Malaysia), the first foreign Islamic bank in the country, has extended its existing Western Union® Money TransferSM service to include Direct to Bank (D2B) service to Indonesia.
D2B service allows senders to remit money directly to the recipient's account at any of the 70 designated banks in Indonesia. Participating banks include Bank Mandiri, Bank BII, Bank Niaga, Bank BNI, Bank BCA, Bank Lippo, Bank Danamon, Bank Permata, BRI and BRI Unit.
Explaining the initiative, Dato’ Jamelah Jamaluddin, Chief Executive Officer, KFH Malaysia said, “With the increasingly competitive environment, customers are looking for enhanced services from their banks. Our aim is to provide the utmost convenience to our customers wishing to transfer money to their family members abroad or on behalf of their migrant domestic workers. We shall always strive to ensure that customers get more from their banking with KFH Malaysia.”
“We are delighted to work with the world’s leading money transfer company, Western Union, to facilitate this added convenience for our customers,” she added.
The service is available at KFH Malaysia’s 12 branches nationwide. These consist of Kuala Lumpur, The Pavilion, Shah Alam, Klang, Johor Bahru, Penang, Kuching, Kota Bharu, Kota Kinabalu, Batu Pahat, Kota Damansara and Taman Permata. The service is also available at the Bank’s Bureau De Change outlet at KL Sentral.
To use the D2B service, the sender is required to fill up a form to indicate the name and bank account of the recipient and present the amount to be transferred in cash. Unlike normal fund transfers through banks, there is no deduction made to the account of the receiver. The transferred fund can then be withdrawn by the recipient within one hour at any of the participating banks or the banks’ ATMs. This gives the recipient 24/7 access to the fund.
“There are millions of Indonesians working overseas and all of them need to send money either to their families and loved ones in Indonesia for a host of reasons but mostly for regular expenses or personal savings,” said Drina Yue, Managing Director and Senior Vice President, Western Union Asia Pacific.
“Western Union provides an invaluable link to fulfill these aspirations by offering fast, convenient and reliable money transfer services. Our D2B service provides another choice for those Indonesians wishing to send money directly to a bank account; which enables their families to access the money at their convenience or help promote savings,” she stressed.
KFH Malaysia offers a complete range of Shariah-based financial products and services. These include KFH Gold Account-i, Personal Financing-i, KFH Home Financing-i, and KFH Automobile Ijarah-i, among others.
